The "Friends" star was found face down in a pool at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023. The medical examiner blamed his death on the acute effects of ketamine, an anesthetic with psychedelic properties.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, investigators announced they had connected five people to Perry's death, the US Attorney for the Central District of California

Those include his assistant, medical professionals including Salvador Plasencia, a licensed medical doctor known as "Dr. P," and Sangha, allegedly known as "The Ketamine Queen," the release said.

Authorities said Perry purchased the drugs originally from doctors but switched distributors once the price of the hard-to-get drug got too expensive.

Perry spoke openly about his substance abuse problems. He divulged in his memoir titled "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," that he went through 15 stints at rehab before gaining some sense of control.

The book was a New York Times Best Seller.

“These defendants cared more about profiting off of Mr. Perry than caring for his well-being,” said United States Attorney Martin Estrada. “Drug dealers selling dangerous substances are gambling with other people’s lives over greed. This case, along with our many other prosecutions of drug-dealers who cause death, sends a clear message that we will hold drug-dealers accountable for the deaths they cause.”

Though he was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Perry spent most of his childhood and adolescence in Canada. He grew up friends with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as Perry's mother served as one-time press secretary for Trudeau's father, then Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
